Jesse Matthew (pictured) was indicted on first-degree murder and abduction charges in connection with Hannah Graham’s death, a county prosecutor announced Tuesday.

He faces 20 years to life if convicted, and is scheduled to appear in Albermarle Circuit Court via video link on the 18th.

Currently, Matthew is behind bars for a separate 2005 rape charge, for which his next court date is March 9th. He is linked to at least 10 rapes, murders and disappearances over the years.

Graham was last seen with Matthew after leaving a bar on campus last September. Officials found her buried body a month later, determining she died from “homicidal violence.”

They also found Matthew hiding in a tent on a Texas beach during a massive search for him. He faces additional charges of fleeing from police a week after Graham’s disappearance.

Though he is also connected to the 2009 killing of Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington, he has yet to be charged for that crime.

Because he has not been indicted on capital murder, Matthew will not face the death penalty.
