Former President Donald Trump has returned to North Carolina amid a tightening 2024 presidential race, now a dead heat between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.
According to WBTV, Trump’s rally in Asheville on Wednesday drew a huge crowd, with lines stretching through downtown and exceeding the 2,500-seat venue’s capacity. North Carolina, a key battleground state, will be closely watched in the upcoming election. In 2020, Trump won the state by just 1.3%, his narrowest margin of victory. Chris Cooper, a political science professor at Western Carolina University predicts that the state will see intensified campaigning through November, advising those who prefer to avoid politics to turn off their TVs, shut their computers, and ignore their mail.
