It’s hard to sleep these days without urgent news or gossip breaking out amongst faithful Twitter users, but this one came just minutes ago and seems to have already developed increased validity with the refreshing of your web browser.

We are sad and very deeply regretful to even have to report we’ve discovered that a well-known pillar of faith Bishop Kenneth Moales, Sr. has passed away.

Twitter alerts from gospel music aficionados such as Dr. Kevin Bond, Tye Tribbett, James Fortune, Jonathan Nelson and others began showing up on our timelines shortly after 1:00AM this morning. The late Bishop Moales, as many of you already may know, succeeded the Father of Gospel Music, Dr. Thomas A. Dorsey, in 1993 as the President of the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses, Inc. The NCGCC recently celebrated it’s 77th year of Gospel music ministry in Orlando, FL in August of this year.

Bishop Kenneth Moales, Sr. was also inducted into the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame & Museum for his many years of dedication and commitment. Bishop Kenneth Moales, Sr. leaves behind to mourn his wife of 43 years Lady Peggy Ann Moales, three children, 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of extended family members, friends, supporters and ministry colleagues.

We’ll do our best to keep you abreast of all the details as soon as they become available. For more information on Prayer Tabernacle Ministries or the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses, click on the following links.
