The entertainment and pop culture world is mourning the loss of iconic actress Elizabeth Taylor who died this morning at age 79.

She reportedly died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centers surrounded by her children after experiencing congestive heart failure. Taylor had been hospitalized for more than a month.

In the movie world Taylor was known for Oscar winning performances in the movies “Butterfield 8″ and “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf?” She was one of the highest paid actress in her heyday during the ’50s and ’60s, and acted in more than 50 films throughout her career.

For younger generations, Taylor was known more for her red carpet style of seductive gowns and bold diamonds that influenced today’s celebrities from J.Lo to Eva Longoria. Of screen, her personal life mirrored her characters as Taylor entertained a string of eight husbands. She was also a close friend of the late Michael Jackson, and stood up for him despite the number allegations he faced. She created a culture of celebrity that inspired today’s celebrity obsession. However, she was also an ardent humanitarian who contributed to causes such as the fight against AIDS and for LGBT rights.

CNN’s Larry King called larger than life, and life. He said there will never be another actress like her. Share your thoughts about Taylor’s passing and influence on pop culture on our Facebook page.
