Patiently Waiting

Psalm 27: 14

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. King James

Waiting and trusting that God’s promises for me will actually be made a reality is where I tend to struggle from time to time in this daily faith walk I am on. It’s hard to wait patiently for His promise to come to past when I try to view life through my own eyes rather than His. And, I know I am not alone.

But…God! God gives us Sarah and Abraham as an example of what happens when we take matters into our own hands. He promised Abraham that He would make him the father of many nations (Genesis 12: 1 & 17:5). However, Sarah and Abraham believed that God needed some help in fulfilling His promise. And, the result of their impatience and disobediences produces Ishmael, not born by Sarah, but rather by her maidservant Hagar. However, waiting until Abraham was over 100 years old and Sarah was over 90 years old, we also see how God still fulfills His promise in the birth of Isaac (Genesis 21:1-2).

Now, isn’t it just like Him to not allow us to just linger out there without something promising to hold on to while He continues to do a perfect work in us? The bottom-line to Sarah and Abraham’s story is just this – we must remember that our time is not His time. And, that His time is always the RIGHT time.

Now, if you have already taken matters into your own hands, it doesn’t mean His promise won’t be fulfilled in your life. Just like Sarah and Abraham, some blessings are designed just for you and God will fulfill them. So, instead of doubting, fearing, getting frustrated, irritated, and anxious; we should remain faithful, patient, obedient and steadfast that what God has promised you will come to past, in due season.

So, you either trust God or you don’t. You either believe God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all you have ever asked or think, or you don’t. If you believe God is a God that He should not lie and will fulfill each promise He has made to you, then you should sit back and wait on the Lord. His timing is PERFECT.

Walk in faith. Live in love.
