An absolutely radiant Viola Davis won the Best Supporting Actress award at the 89th Academy Awards on Sunday and in doing so, reached one of the most elusive acting clubs ever. With her win for her work in the 2016 film “Fences,” Davis becomes the only the 23rd person to win at least one acting award at the Oscars, the Emmys and the Tonys, but is the first black woman to do so!  Whoopi Goldberg notably came close, having attained the trifecta, but her Tony was for production work, not acting.

Davis’s wins, are for a 2015 Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for “How to Get Away with Murder” and two Tony Awards, for 2001’s “King Hedley II” and 2010’s work in the Broadway rendition of “Fences.”

Davis joins the legendary Al Pacino and Helen Mirren, who have reached this elusive pinnacle. Also remarkable was Davis’s acceptance speech. Among the most talked about from last night. Check it out!
