On Saturday, Oct. 10, gospel artist Tim Bowman, wed Brelyn Freeman – daughter of DC area pastors Mike and Dee Dee Freeman. The two set out from the beginning of their courtship to show that it is indeed possible to stay committed to God’s way and keep oneself pure while dating. Both claim their virginity on their wedding day.
Support was palpable for the stance, until news hit the internet of a different, some say archaic presentation made by the bride to her father. She presented him with a “Certificate of Purity” – an actual formal document, signed by her doctor that verifies that her hymen was still intact.
Some feel this is overkill, but the family maintains that this is a positive witness and example and that it is a spiritual matter that they do not expect everyone to understand. The Freemans and The Bowmans have definitely made this private matter public in hopes of serving as a beacon for couples who often have no reference point for saving themselves for marriage.
