When I was in my early twenties trying to be a “big girl,” there were times that I had no

idea what I was doing. I would hit periods where it did not only feel like it was raining,

but as if I were in the middle of a monsoon. During those times, I would reach out to

my mother in hopes of getting some help, comfort and quite frankly a solution. Every

time, my mother would respond “Trust God, all will be well,” I would be thinking “really,

are you serious, do you not realize that my life is crashing and burning and you are telling

me, “trust God.”

My perception of life in my early twenties really did not take into account that storms

were going to come, and certainly, I was not planning on my mother’s response. After

I now realize that my mother gave me the greatest gift I could ever receive. She taught

me about developing a relationship built on faith and trust. I thought she was a meany

because in my opinion there was no solution attached. However, as I look back at all

the rain storms and monsoons that I have been through, I realize that the key word

As long as we are blessed to see another day, our journey at times will encounter

sprinkles, thunderstorms and even tornados. But the good news is, if we stay the

course and learn the lessons, we will be covered with the power of the One that will be

with us regardless of the conditions. We must understand that those rainy days prepare

us for the sunshine. We must not become distracted running randomly through the

puddles; we must stop and be still. In our quiet time, we will receive direction on just

how to manage the situation.

So what my mother was really saying is, regardless of what you go through, no matter

what it looks like, whether it is financial, health, relational etc; as long as we have faith

and trust, knowing that our storms are purposed for our good, everything will be alright!
