Nice Weather Relief Ahead

After an exceptionally hot July, relief is finally on the horizon for the Carolinas. Thursday marks the 25th consecutive day of 90°+ temperatures across the Piedmont and Foothills, with scattered afternoon storms providing the only brief cooldown—some could bring wind gusts up to 40 mph. According to WCCB, a cold front arriving overnight will begin to usher in cooler air. While Friday may still hit the 90s for a 26th straight day, big changes arrive this weekend. A classic “winter wedge” pattern will bring cooler, denser air into the region, with Saturday highs possibly staying below 80° in Charlotte for the first time in weeks.
