Authorities have released the names of six people killed in a devastating crash Saturday morning on Interstate 485 in west Charlotte. The collision occurred just after 11 a.m. when a Honda CRV veered into the right lane and struck a Chrysler van, causing both vehicles to leave the roadway and crash into a parked tractor-trailer. The CRV’s driver, 16-year-old Logan Sauer of Mooresville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Inside the van were six passengers; five were killed, including three young children. The victims were identified as Samuel Holmes, 27; Taylor Willis, 23; Brynlon Holmes, 1; Addyson Holmes, 3; and Kamron Wood, 8. A 16-year-old girl survived the crash and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The tractor-trailer driver was uninjured. State troopers say the investigation remains ongoing, but no charges are expected.
