Tornado Roars Through North Carolina Community

A tornado roared through a Union County community Wednesday morning, leaving about 1,000 people without power. The twister touched down at 8:34 a.m. near Friendly Baptist Church Road in Indian Trail, close to Porter Ridge High School. According to WBTV, the EF-1 tornado, with peak winds of 90 mph, was on the ground for about three minutes. It was approximately 75 yards wide and tracked 2.24 miles. The storm downed trees and caused widespread power outages in the area.
