A deadly crash on the inner loop of Interstate 485 in southwest Charlotte Monday morning left one person dead, according to Medic. The collision occurred near Exit 4 for Steele Creek Road, prompting significant traffic delays. The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) reported that two of the four lanes were closed, causing backups of up to an hour in the Steele Creek area. According to WCNC, Crews worked for about two hours to clear the scene and investigate the crash. By 11 a.m., all lanes on I-485 had reopened. Investigators have not yet released the identity of the person who died in the crash.
