Last night, at the NBA’s inaugural awards show, Russell Westbrook was named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player. The Oklahoma City Thunder point guard was honored as the second player ever to average a triple-double, and the first player since 1981 to be named MVP while playing for a team that won less than 50 games. Westbrook thanked his teammates in his acceptance speech, and tearfully thanked his family in a moving tribute, saying,  “I remember growing up just being home, playing the video games and stuff with my pops, and my mom sitting there and my brother and just talking about maybe one day I could be the MVP.
