Hurricane Matthew Churns in Caribbean

Hurricane Matthew reached landfall in Haiti early this morning.  Hundreds of thousands of Haitians, many of whom have not recovered from the damage of the devastating earthquake six years ago, were evacuated to shelters. The 145 mile per hour winds and torrential rain has already caused at least three deaths.  With it’s trajectory towards Cuba and coastal U.S., the governors of Florida and North Carolina have already declared a state of emergency.  The storm is likely to hit Florida itself on Thursday night and North Carolina over the weekend.
