The first full day of competition at the 2016 Rio Olympics was a good one for us, the U.S. won five medals. Katie Ledecky broke her own record, winning gold in swimming for the Women’s 400m freestyle and the Men’s 4x100m freestyle relay (swimming) walking away with a gold as well, with Michael Phelps swimming an impressive second leg. The U.S. women’s gymnastics team nearly swept the qualifying events with Simone Biles and Aly Raisman qualifying for the individual all-around competition.
