Carolina Panthers v Atlanta Falcons

Though the Panthers won, Cam Newton is dealing with other controversy surrounding last night’s game.  Prior to the game, Newton tore down a pro-Packers banner, and the owner wasn’t at all happy about it.  Mike Dobs said he paid $500 for the banner (which read ‘North Carolina Cheesehead’) and he wants to be compensated for it, and has threatened to take further action if they don’t make it right in the next 48 hrs. Dobs reported Newton’s act to stadium police.

Interestingly, he really wasn’t supposed to have posted the banner in the first place.  The team’s banner and flag policy clearly prohibits fans from hanging banners over railings on the lower deck indicating  “No banners or flags expressing support of visiting teams may be affixed to or displayed on any surface. Hand held signs or posters that are in compliance with the balance of this policy are acceptable.”

Cam maintains he was just defending his “house” and that it’s just about respect. Adding insult to injury, the Carolina Panthers continued their 8-0 winning streak with a 37-29 win against the Packers.
