In BIG social media news, yesterday President Barack Obama launched his own Twitter account. Under the handle, @POTUS, Obama gained 1.4 million followers within a few hours. His first tweet? “Hello, Twitter! It’s Barack. Really! Six years in, they’re finally giving me my own account.” The President is currently following 65 people, including Bill Clinton whom with he shared this spirited exchange:
Good question, @billclinton. The handle comes with the house. Know anyone interested in @FLOTUS?

The president’s official feed, run by his Organizing for Action staff @BarackObama, was launched in 2007.
