Richmond, VA — Former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell was sentenced today to two years in prison for federal corruption charges. U.S. District Judge James Spencer said the former governor must report to prison on Feb. 9. McDonnell’s wife will be sentenced Feb. 20.

The sentence could also be seen as a victory for McDonnell’s attorneys. Prosecutors were seeking at least 10-12 years in prison for accepting bribes totaling $177,000 while McDonnell was governor.
