The American Worker continues to face major challenges. Despite loyality and commitment to their jobs, the American Worker grapples with increased consumer prices and stagnant wages. In fact, wages have been largely stagnant in the United States for the last 45 years.

To add insult to injury, corporate CEO’s in the United States are making 340 times what the average American Worker makes. To put this statistic in context, in the 1980’s Corporate CEO’s earned 42 times what the average worker made. To make matters worse, the American Worker is asked to increase productivity, work longer hours with a reduced workforce and in many instances, work in an environment where morale is low – while wage increases are no where to be found. As Conservatives tout the majesty of the Free Market, the Working Poor, Middle Class families and 1.3 million long term unemployed Americans are being squeezed dry.

‘COMMUNITY VOICES’ host, Ron Holland, talks with award-winning Finance Editor and Journalist, Myra Thomas about the Free Market, income disparity and treatment of the American Worker.
