Washington,. D.C. — Reports of gunshots just outside of the U.S. Capitol prompted a temporary lock down of the building around 2:30p.m. today.  As of 3:45p.m. Federal law enforcement believe the shooting situation at the U.S. Capitol has been resolved. An intelligence source says so far, there is no tie to terrorism.

Capitol Police say the incident started with an attempted breach at the White House when they believe a woman rammed her vehicle into the gate of the White House.

Police Officials then pursued the vehicle, that the woman was driving with a child inside.  The women’s vehicle then struck a barricade at the corner of 2nd and Maryland when it crashed,  followed by shots fired at the woman.  Her condition is currently unknown.

The House is now back in session.

Police believe this was an isolated incident and the Lockdown has been lifted.
