The impact Gospel Music has on the Black Church can be measured by the success of the Gospel Music industry. Record sales in gospel music are in the millions. Gospel artists are creating new sounds, innovating instrumentation and establishing a presence in both secular and inspirational music.
That’s why Gospel music is an intergral part of the Black Church experience. The rhythmic sound of a choir, a church mother’s hum or the latest hit song from a gospel music artist, provides an unshakable bond between gospel music and the so-called, Black Church. In Part 4 of our series, ‘THE STATE OF THE BLACK CHURCH,’ Gospel Music Artist and radio personality, William Becton, along with radio personalities, Melanie Pratt and Christopher Gray, talked with ‘COMMUNITY VOICES’ host, Ron Holland, about a host of issues impacting the the Gospel Music Industry and Black Church.
