Three users of the same mobile phone number passed from one person to the next in the U.K. have something in common — they all died.
The number, 0888-888-8888, has now been suspended and won’t be used by another victim, I mean, person. The first user, a former CEO of mobile phone company, died of cancer in 2001 at the age of 48. The number then passed to a Bulgarian mafia boss who was gunned down in 2003. The number then went to a “crooked businessman,” who was gunned down outside an Indian restaurant. Imagine being the next one to get that number — the wrong number might mean a pair of cement shoes!
