BLESSED THINKING

Deuteronomy 30:19

Every action and reaction we take starts in our minds….how we view or perceive or believe something to be. If we regularly think negatively or in fear, more times than not, our actions will translate that thought into what we do or say. How often do we mess something up, or misunderstand something ALL because we instantly went negative/fearful in our thinking on it? It is a bad habit to have and one that needs to be broken daily….in most of us….I know it has to be broken with me.

My mind can truly take me to places that are so extreme: be it over-analyzing a phone call; misunderstanding an email message; or, trying to figure out someone’s body language. Whatever it is….instead of seeing it for what it is….no more, no less…oftentimes, I am making a mountain out of mole hill….driving myself crazy only to learn that it wasn’t what I had twisted it in my mind to be…THEN I am exhausted and mentally drained from wasted worry.

God gives us free will. And, in that free will we are able to choose between life and death (positive and negative; good and bad). God wants us to always choose life, for in that our blessings are found. Now, our blessings do not always have to equal a tangible thing, it can be what is most needed, each day…PEACE OF MIND. When we always focus on the good, even in the challenge…that God is able…..we are getting the blessing of increased faith, strengthened character, a testimony to share, etc.

So, embrace this with me….choose blessed thinking. Stop allowing your mind to take you down roads of anxiety, fear, despair, confusion, depression, negativity, hopelessness. God is not on that road. If we truly call ourselves Christians we should not allow them in our minds or hearts…..through everything our faith should cancel them all out….at all times…by throwing the word of God at it. A friend of mine reminded me that when you feel you are about to think negatively, say to the adversary, “Oh you are trying to trip me up today? Okay, I got something for you!”, and start quoting God’s word…His promises.

Walk in faith; live in love.

WHO IS MONICA WOOD AKA MOWOOD?

Monica Wood is one who faith walks even when she doesn’t want to. Through trial and error I have made some mistakes – not many are visible – but all have left a reminder of their existence. It is through the scars that I have learned what kind of faith I have and what kind of God I serve. And, for close to 4 years now I have been led to share some of my scars, during a season of “transparency”, in the form of daily or weekly or even monthly devotionals.

Over the years, I have received unsolicited feedback with surprising testimonials that were sparked by my transparent messages. All remarks and reactions have been a blessing and encouragement. However, I am led to write because I like to write out where I am and how God is working in it. Now my writings have a title, “MoMoments”. I pray this blessing will be a blessing.
