There was much controversy about Jennifer Lopez leading the Motown tribute at the Grammys. Jlo along with a short moment from Neyo, was picked to tribute the legendary black-owned label and social media was not here for it.  Noting that there are any number of black artists that could have also or instead of done it justice, many criticized the Grammy production team.

However, Motown legend Smokey Robinson says the hate is dumb. Even calling anyone protesting “stupid.” Llast night on the red carpet, “I don’t think anyone who is intelligent is upset. I think anyone who is upset is stupid.  Motown was music for everybody. Everybody… I think anyone who is upset is stupid.”

There will be full Motown tribute show titled “Motown 60: A GRAMMY Celebration.” which will be taped Feb. 12 but air April 21 on CBS.  A statement read,  “Hosted by Cedric the Entertainer and GRAMMY winner Smokey Robinson, the tribute to the iconic sound that changed America will feature Boyz II Men, Chloe X Halle, Ciara, Lamont Dozier, Fantasia, Brian & Eddie Holland, Thelma Houston, Tori Kelly, John Legend, Little Big Town, NE-YO, Pentatonix, Martha Reeves, Diana Ross, Valerie Simpson, Mickey Stevenson, Meghan Trainor, and Stevie Wonder.”
