Join Praise 100.9 this weekend as we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  by playing part in these activities!

2019  ATRIUM HEALTH MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. PARADE – SATURDAY, JANUARY 19TH – UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, 10AM

The parade will march down Tryon Street, beginning at 9th Street and ending at Stonewall Street. More than 100 community organizations, marching bands and step and drill teams will participate. Highlights will include floats with the student winners of the CMS MLK Art and Writing Contests and local performance groups.

ALPHA PHI ALPHA FRATERNITY, INC. – BETA NU LAMDA CHAPTER COMMUNITY BLOOD MOBILE – SATURDAY, JANUARY 19TH

In conjunction with the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. – Beta Nu Lamda  Chapter will host the Community Bloodmobile at 5639 Beatties Ford Road.  You must present a current, officially issued photo ID to donate.

25TH ANNUAL  McCROREY YMCA MLK HOLIDAY BREAKFAST – MONDAY, JANUARY 21ST

Program begins at 8am at the Charlotte Convention Center/Crown Ballroom with keynote speaker Soledad O’Brien.  Proceeds for this event will be used to provide youth and families in the northwest corridor with programs that will improve academic outcomes.  This event is SOLD OUT!

MLK CONCERT AND CELEBRATION AT FRIENDSHIP BAPTIST CHRUCH – MONDAY, JANUARY 21ST

ART – POETRY – MUSIC – JOIN US AS WE CELEBRATE CHARLOTTE’S AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY AND THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR IN A POWERFUL, COLLABORATIVE CONCERTY BY FRIENDSHIP MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, QUENTIN TALLEY’S ON Q PRODUCIONS, DAVID TANG’S FIREBIRD ARTS ALLIANCE, AND OPERA CAROLINA ON MONDAY, JANUARY 21ST AT FRIENDSHIP MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH AT 7.  THE EVENING WILL FUSE MUSIC, SPOKEN WORD AND VISIUAL ART WITH READINGS FROM ICONIC SPEECHES BY DR. KING.  JOIN US AS WE LIFT EVERY VOICE AND SING TO CELEBRATE!
