Former Carolina Panther wide receiver Rae Carruth was released from prison this morning after spending nearly two decades behind bars on charges related to the murder of Cherica Adams who was eight months pregnant with his child. Carruth was sentenced to between 18 and 24 years in 2001 after a jury found him guilty of conspiring to murder Adams with prosecuters saying that he hired two men to kill her in November 1999. She died four weeks after the shooting and her son, Chancellor Lee Adams, was born severe injuries and diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
