A four-decade career in gospel normally means one has not only shifted the genre but also added even more to its vast tapestry. A multi-time Dove, Stellar and Grammy Award winner, Hammond is credited with bridging the gap between contemporary and traditional gospel, having multiple albums reach the top of the Billboard charts and the ability to reach out and perform with secular artists such as Sean “Diddy” Combs and Snoop Dogg.
Gospel artists normally have their home within one section of fans, those that strictly listen to gospel and nothing else. Hammond’s crossover appeal not only endears him to those that would listen to him on Sundays but every day of the week to carry the faith on.
