If you thought Greg Olsen was leaving….think again. The tight end just signed a two year extension with the Carolina Panthers through 2020. The team made the announcement Thursday night.
According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter,
Olsen’s two-year contract extension is worth $8.55 million per year, with a max value of $10.05 million per season. Olsen was set to enter the final year of a three-year deal with the Panthers this season with a base salary of $6.5 million.

This deal could make Olsen the highest paid NFL tight-end. Olsen tried out for an analyst position with ESPN for Monday Night Football in March. But expressed that he wants to continue for the Panthers for several more seasons.
Olsen, who’s known for having a consecutive 1,000 yards season, snapped that record after suffering a broken foot in week 2 last season. After missing 8 games, the tight end ended the season with a career low of 191 receiving yards.
The Carolina Panthers kick off their regular season playing home against the Dallas Cowboys.
