Yesterday, HUD Secretary Dr. Ben Carson proposed raising rents for low-income families. Under his plan, these families would have to pay triple what they’re paying now.  Carson says the current system is unsustainable and that the increases will encourage people to find better-paying jobs. The White House and Carson have several adjustments to federal rental assistance policy, citing the goal of encouraging “work and self-sufficiency.” The proposal now heads to Congress.
