Consider this Merriam-Webster definition of a worshiper: a person who gives reverent honor and homage to God. In that light, simply put, Earnest Pugh is a worshiper. He recorded songs such as the Thomas Whitfield Classic, “Wrapped Up, Tied Up, Tangled Up”, “Just For Who You Are”, “The Great I Am”, and the #1 Gospel Single, “Rain On Us.” A superior vocalist and song stylist extraordinaire, Earnest Pugh has been included in the class of gospel singers like Donnie McClurkin, Smokie Norful, and Marvin Sapp.  At the same time, he’s forging his own path with an anointing and style all his own.  His latest CD entitled Earnest Pugh Live: “Rain On Us,” which featured gospel greats Vanessa Bell Armstrong and Richard Smallwood, debuted #2 on the Billboard Top Gospel Chart in July 2009 and remained for over 64 weeks.

Ranked #6 by Billboard’s 2010 Year End Charts, Pugh is known for his riveting 5-octave range and his unmatched ability in weaving his crystal clear vocals around gospel music’s power ballads. Earnest Pugh’s latest CD is amazing–garnering two 2010 En Sound Awards such as Song of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year along with a nomination from the Gospel Music Channel as Best Praise & Worship Video of Year.  This psalmist, musician, and songwriter is primed to take the industry by storm. Although seemingly out of nowhere, Earnest Pugh’s love story with music started in Memphis, Tennessee where he was discovered by groundbreaking gospel pioneer O’Landa Draper.

This Gospel Balladeer has made appearances on such networks as the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), The Gospel Music Channel (GMC), and Black Entertainment Television (BET), including one of BET’s top rated shows, Bobby Jones Gospel. He has also been featured on The Celebration of Gospel hosted by Steve Harvey and The Allstate Gospel Superfest.

Earnest Pugh is on the cusp of becoming one of the brightest stars in the genre of gospel music. With a new project, produced by Michael Bereal, he is sure to secure his permanent spot as a “mover and shaker” –establishing him as an icon in the industry.
