It’s been almost one month since Nikolas Cruz killed 17 students and faculty at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. In memory of and in protest of policy, the survivors have organized a school walkout scheduled for tomorrow March 14 at 10am local time.  Tomorow students and teachers across the United States will walk out of their schools and universities for 17 minutes, to honor the lives of the 17 people killed and to press lawmakers for stricter gun control laws.  Among their demands, participants want Congress to:

  • Ban assault weapons
  • Require universal background checks before gun sales
  • Pass a gun violence restraining order law that would allow courts to disarm people who display warning signs of violent behavior
