Students return to classes today at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School for the first time since a gunman killed 17 students and teachers at the Parkland, Florida, school. There was a heavy community and police presence on the campus as the school opened for a flexible schedule short day for students. The building where the shootings took place remains closed and will ultimately be demolished but students began the day in the classes (not necessarily the classROOM) that they were in when the shooting began. It is part of the process recommended; to be together with the people that they experienced the original trauma with.
