Philadelphia officials reportedly said they want to be the first US city to set up safe injection sites, allowing people to come to designated spots to shoot up opioids. The idea is said to seek to prevent overdose deaths, by allowing people to use opiods like heroin and fentanyl under medical supervision. During this proclaimed opoid crisis, Philadelphia has the highest opioid death rate of any major US city.
