President Trump’s personal lawyer John Dowd suggested this morning that the investigation into the Trump administration’s collusion in Russian involvement in the election may be futile when it comes to his client. Dowd stated that the “president cannot obstruct justice because he is the chief law enforcement officer under [the Constitution’s Article II] and has every right to express his view of any case.” Legal experts assess that this is unfounded, citing The House impeachment of Bill Clinton and intended impeachment of Richard Nixon for obstruction of justice historically.
