US-POLITICS-TRUMP-MEDAL OF HONOR

Yesterday, U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly ruled in favor of the Trump administration, denying a request by deputy director of  the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Leandra English.  English was promoted by the bureau’s outgoing chief, Richard Cordray but the Trump administration announced that it was installing White House budget director Mick Mulvaney as acting director.  English asked for a temporary restraining order to keep Mulvaney from taking the post, to protect the political independence of the bureau.  The Trump administration and Republicans generally have criticized the consumer bureau, believing it too aggressive in taking on big banks and other businesses.
