President Trump is shutting down his charitable foundation, the Donald J. Trump Foundation. In 2015 the foundation admitted to violating rules that prohibit non-profit entities from directing contributions to themselves, their families, or their businesses. In October 2016, the New York attorney general demanded the foundation cease asking for contributions, but will continue investigations into allegations of misappropriation. The foundation’s 2016 IRS filing, filed this month, states it had assets of close to $970,000.
