Charlotte, like many cities and towns across the country have challenges providing residents with affordable housing. For its part, the Queen City is making efforts to build housing affordable to people with low and modest incomes. With both the ‘Housing Trust Fund,’ which was established to aide the city in its affordable housing efforts and the ‘Mandatory Inclusionary Zoning,’ requiring “developers to set aside a certain percentage of units in every new development,” Charlotte’s affordable housing efforts have proven anemic. Given that hundreds of millions of dollars are invested in  development in Charlotte, it’s not lost on many of the city’s residents that low income areas are not enjoying similar investments taking place uptown and in affluent parts of the city. ‘COMMUNITY VOICES’ host, Ron Holland and crew delves into this issue with Community Activist, Rodney McGill, President of the ‘Save Our Children Movement, Inc.’ COMMUNITY VOICES also tackles efforts to change North Carolina’s concealed carry gun laws.
