Is That You God?

John 14: 15-17, 26

“Lead me; guide me…along the way. Lord, if you lead me, I cannot stray. Lord, let me walk, each day with thee. Lead me oh Lord, lead me.” That old hymn should be our daily prayer. Each day, we should be asking the Lord to lead us and guide us in every situation. But, so often we decide to lead ourselves; messing up in some form…THEN we ask God for guidance and direction. Now, it’s not that God won’t show up when you call for Him, but that doesn’t mean that the consequences of the actions we take will not have to be endured. However, God’s grace and mercy will be with us through it. Now, to avoid painful endurance…why not ask God to lead you each day at the beginning, in the middle and the end.

Now, I know what you are thinking, “How will I know God is leading me?” Think back to times when you have attempted to do something on your own; you rationalized it in your mind and believed you were doing the right thing. But, you also felt a deep pull in your belly to not do it for some reason…that was God speaking to you through the Holy Spirit. However, more times than we care to admit, we often ignore that gut feeling and continue down the road on our own…then comes the mistakes.

The devil works by trying to influence your mind (side note: Joyce Meyer’s book “Battlefield of the Mind” speaks about this and it’s awesome!) but, God speaks to you through your soul (that gut feeling) which is the Holy Spirit.

To ensure you know its God leading you and not yourself you should do the following:

  • Elevate your relationship with God, so you can hear His voice more clearly and effectively.
  • Elevate your behavior to incorporate God into your daily decisions, actions and thinking….make your relationship with God a habit in your life. Be deliberate in your walk with Him, as you are deliberate in other things YOU want to have, do or be. As Matthew 6:33 states, “Seek first HIS Kingdom…and, all other things will be added.”

If you continue to seek Him first, you will walk in God’s will and ALL other things will be added.

Walk in faith; live in love.
