I was watching a special broadcast recently, and during the show, it was said that there are currently over 7 billion people in the world today. The first thought that came to me was, each one of that 7 billion plus people, have completely different fingerprints. Not even identical twins have the same fingerprint. I don’t know about you, but in the words of the Arsenio Hall from back in the day, “makes me wanna say hmmmm.”

We understand that on most anything we touch, our fingerprint is left behind. It may not be seen by the naked eye, but with processing, our fingerprint can be identified. Take a minute to think about that. Out of every person in the world, now and to come, no two prints are the same. Simply miraculous!

Jeremiah 1:5 tells us, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.” I couldn’t help thinking, Our Father knew us, BEFORE, we were formed. Then once conceived our fingerprints form at about 13 weeks of gestation. But it doesn’t stop there, the actual forming of the fingerprint pattern such as the arch, loop and whorl, is formed from our movements in the uterus.

As I thought about it more deeply, it struck me that our movement in our mother’s womb, creates a fingerprint that is unlike anyone else in the world. I don’t know about you but, that stopped me in my tracks.

Okay, so what difference does any of this make? For me, it’s a call to action for each one of us. We are reminded of our assignment in Philemon 1:7 says, “For I have derived much joy and comfort from your love, my brother, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you.” Basically, what are we doing to put our fingerprint on the lives of others? Are we moving now?

If our fingerprint is as unique as we are, why then wouldn’t our contribution to the lives of others be just as unique?

So, often when I am recruiting partners to assist with projects, meetings or the like, the common response is, “you don’t need me, you have so and so.” “I’ll do it next time; I don’t have anything to offer right now.”

Everything we touch has our fingerprint on it. That means no one else can touch it quite like we can.

When we contribute simply ourselves to make a difference, we leave our fingerprint leading to our legacy.

I don’t want my fingerprint to go to waste. Too many times, fingerprinting is thought of as a negative often tied to crime; but I’m in favor of turning it around by touching things with the power that Jeremiah 1:5 talks about. If you are not convinced, stop by Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.”
