Eight area choirs competed in the How Sweet the Sound Tour at Time Warner Cable Arena on Wednesday. The choirs from throughout the Carolinas had an opportunity to perform for at least 7,000 people at the arena as well as celebrity judges Marvin Sapp, John P. Kee and Fred Hammond. CeCe Winans and Donald Lawrence hosted the event.

The Charlotte tour winners were Salvation and Deliverance Church Choir of Tarboro for Best Overall Choir and Best Small Church Choir. The Kingdom Voices of Park Church won best large choir. Both choirs won $10,000. Salvation and Deliverance will have an opportunity to compete in the finale on Nov. 13 in Washington.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly listed which choirs would compete in the finale. Only Salvation and Deliverance will compete in the finale.
