Redirect Your Focus

Proverbs 19:21

What are you doing right now that is being done more out of obligation, habit, for acceptance or fear….everything but because God desires you to do it?

For awhile now I have been feeling like I am not completely doing what God has placed me here to do. A feeling of urgency has been filling up in me. I have been asking God what am I suppose to be doing that I am currently not doing. What am I doing that I need to stop doing? Why do I feel underwhelmed when doing this or overwhelmed when I do that?

Net/net, as when I moved from Baltimore to Charlotte after feeling an overwhelming sense of “no regrets”, I am back there again and have been earnestly seeking to hear from God to learn what my “next” is.  I know for certain that a lot of what is currently on my plate, I have placed there myself. No matter how good the intention or even outcome, all of it isn’t what God wants me to do. So my feeling of underwhelm or overwhelm is self-inflicted. OUCH!

Let me say this, the season of doing ALL things in order to please everyone more than God can no longer be my focus or yours. For God has the plan….again, God has THE plan for me. His plan doesn’t include some things I am currently trying to take on. The way I know this is because I no longer find joy in doing them and when there is no joy there is no excellence.  While coming to this revelation, God placed in my spirit what my “next” looks like:

Enhance the brand of a few

Empower young girls

Enforce the good news

Encourage the discouraged

Elevate the future

And, do it all in Excellence!

It is time to stop trying to please everyone more than the one who woke you up this morning and has the original plans for why you are here in His hands. Play time is over…life is short and final. We must place God first in all things, especially in what we are meant to do. His purpose must become our desire. Settle yourself down and ask God, “What do I need to cut out of my life?”  “What does God have for me to do?” Get ready for the answer and get ready to do it. Once you do it, watch your burdens get lifted, your joy return and, God’s purpose get fulfilled.

This makes me excited today…what about you?

Walk in faith; live in love, Mo Wood

Who is Monica Wood aka Mo Wood? This is a loaded question. Monica Wood is one who faith walks even when she doesn’t want to…or at least that is what I am told. Through trial and error I have made some mistakes – not many are visible – but all have left scars and traumatic war wombs. It is through the scars that I have learned what kind of faith I have and what kind of God I serve as I walk by faith, not by sight. And, for close to 4 years now I have been led to share some of my scars during a season of “transparency” in the form of my devotionals – Mo Moments.

Mo Moment: Finished with Fear

Mo Moment: Forgive Yourself
