Sporty Slap Lands Chad Johnson in Jail

Former NFL star Chad Johnson was so close to securing a no-jail plea for violating probation on his domestic violence charges he could almost touch it—until he did. Johnson playfully slapped his attorney on the butt in front of the courtroom, prompting the judge to reject the plea and sentence him to 30 days in jail. “I don’t know that you’re taking this whole thing seriously. I just saw you slap your attorney on the backside,” said the judge. “The whole courtroom was laughing. I’m not going to accept these plea negotiations. This isn’t a joke.”

Upset On the Court! Williams Loses to Stephens

19 year old Sloane Stephens won an upset victory against Serena Williams in the quarterfinals at the Australian open today. Williams won the first set 6–3, but Stephens ultimately won with a 6–4 victory. Williams reportedly suffered a back injury,and succumbed to frustration eventually taking it out on her racket, which she broke during the second set.

Former NBA Star Steve Francis Accused Of Sexual Assault

TMZ recently uncovered that former NBA star Steve Francis is being accused of sexual assault in Houston.

According to police reports, the athlete allegedly “groped” a 20-year-old woman, Shauna Simien, through her clothing in Texas last year. She immediately went to the police.

But this woman was no stranger to Francis, who is a Washington, DC area native.

She told the celebrity news outlet that she was a singer was signed to Francis’ record label the day of the incident. Simien met with him in his office to supposedly discuss her contract.

She claims the groping took place while the two were talking. He allegedly grabbed between her legs. According to the victim, she screamed out for him to stop. Her friends heard the cry out for help and rushed in to break things up.

The complaint was filed a year ago and nothing has happened since then. In fact, Simien is so frustrated that she’s considering filing a lawsuit against the Houston District Attorney’s office.

A Warner Robins pastor is on a crusade against something sacred to many in his middle Georgia town: high school football.

To be exact he’s crusading against the devil, and in this case the devil is the Warner Robins High’s mascot. The pastor of Kingdom Builders Church of Jesus Christ has an issue with the team name Warner Robins High School Demons as well as the green-eyed, pitchfork-carrying demon mascot. The pastor Donald Crosby is following a road travelled by previous pastors with little success. He’s collecting signatures for a petition and complaining to the news media.

People in the town shrug it off. The Demons have one four state championships, and a change is highly unlikely.

Long-time NBA player Maunte Bol died over the weekend. Bol was 47 years old. He played for several NBA teams, including Washington Wizards (they were the Bullets when Bol played); Golden State Warriers; Philadelphia 76ers; and the Miami Heat.

According to online news reports Bol died at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, where he was being treated for severe kidney trouble and a painful skin condition, Tom Prichard, executive director of the group Sudan Sunrise, said in an e-mail.

“Sudan and the world have lost a hero and an example for all of us,” Prichard said. “Manute, we’ll miss you. Our prayers and best wishes go out to all his family, and all who mourn his loss.”

Bol played in the NBA with Washington, Golden State, Philadelphia and Miami, averaging 2.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.3 blocks for his career. He led the league in blocks in 1985-86 with Washington (5.0 per game) and in 1988-89 with Golden State (4.3 a game).

“Manute’s impact on this city, our franchise and the game of basketball cannot be put into words,” 76ers president and general manager Ed Stefanski said in a statement. “He … was continually giving of himself through his humanitarian efforts in order to make the world around him a much better place, for which he will always be remembered.”

Looks like the fight between for LeBron continues.

Yesterday members of the Shaker Dance Academy along with the Boys and Girls of Akron and Cleveland mingled near the fountain at Tower City Center in downtown Cleveland. Just minutes later the music starting blaring “Holding Out for Hero” and the flash mob began.

Dancers appeared from the crowd, joining in several at a time until the group totaled almost 200. Passersby stopped to watch and snap photos as the dance rolled into Usher’s “More.”

Why? The kids are hopeful that LeBron James will catch wind of their efforts and stay in Cleveland.
