Although President Obama isn’t up for reelection, his 42% approval rating has Republicans salivating a victory in the 2014 Mid-term elections. A number of Democrats in hotly contested states are steering clear of Mr. Obama despite a bevy of legislative successes.

For the President’s part, he’s already dismissed having his feelings hurt if he’s not invited to campaign for members of his party. With over 15 million Americans now signed up for the President’s signature legislative accomplishment – the Affordable Care Act – with over eight million private sector jobs added back to the economy; coupled with the national unemployment rate under 6% and the Stock Market at its highest levels since the recession, Democrats are still having to bank on heavy African-American voter turnout to stave off Republican wins in hotly contested states like North Carolina.

‘COMMUNITY VOICES’ host, Ron Holland, talked with Rosa Garvin, President of the Charlotte Chapter of the National Action Network and T’Afo Feimster, Founder and Director of the Latibah Collard Green Museum and Co-Founder of Adept Artists Inc., about efforts to turn out the Black Vote in North Carolina.
