(GALVESTON, TX)— Gov. Rick Perry calls on the federal government to step up health checks at ports of entry for people coming from countries where Ebola is prevalent.

The governor’s call came following a tour of the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

He said more must be done to protect Americans.

“It’s part of why I call for Washington to institute enhanced screening at all ports of entry,” Perry said.

Perry said we need to gather health information from people living in the affected areas and arriving here in the U.S.

He said the feds need fully staffed quarantine stations at all points of entry ready for anyone who would exhibit the symptoms of contagion.

We asked if he thought enhanced screening should include people from infected areas that enter through the northern and southern borders, and Perry said it should be part of the discussion.
