When you’re prompted to give “God a Hand of Praise,” what are you doing exactly?
This was the provocative question I posed to a colleague during a lengthy discussion about Church, Theology, First & Fourth Century Christianity; the impact of the Charismatic Movement on the so-called Black Church and the Pagan roots of contemporary Christianity. While the natural inclination is to suggest that God is “getting the praise,” I’m afraid a more self-aggrandizing and narcissistic motive is at work.
