Here is Brian’s special 4th of July Message:
My deployment to the Middle East and Afghanistan definitely inspired many of the songs on my album, Moods and Messages. The military band pushed me beyond my Soul Artist tag, allowed me to discover that universally loved music is bigger than genre; it’s about people. Encouraging songs like Open (Lovely Day), and KeepMovin’ On were born during late nights while I waited to Skype my wife and kids back home, and as I reflected on the mission at hand. Seeing and experiencing separation from my family, talking to and performing for injured soldiers and the amazing staff of doctors and nurses that serve them, and honoring the fallen who paid the ultimate price for our country. These are the experiences that moved me in such a way that I wanted my civilian career and music to reflect their story. Although Moods and Messages is for everybody, specifically it’s an ode to men and women in uniform. It’s about our “moods and our messages” and the stories that come out of them. And those stories connect with our troops. I just want to do my part in telling the story.
